Mayor's Message - ( Mayor Nimal De Silva )

I take much pleasure in sending this message to the Mataracity website. Matara city, which has a history for more than so many centuries, has been a centre of civilization in Sri Lanka since the reign of Sinhala Kings. Ancient Buddhist temples and historically important places stand testimony to this. Modern Matara city, which was raised to Municipal Council in the year 2002, needs a lot of improvement. I as the first Mayor have a great responsibility, which I hope to fulfil with the cooperation of the rest of the members

Deputy Mayor's Message - ( Deputy Mayor Nandasena Sellahewa. )

This attempt by a young man from Matara is highly appreciable. Matara city a historically important place in Sri Lanka will be receiving the first ever exposure through a website of its own. It is my fervent hope that this website will bring more fame to Matara and help in the improvement of the city. Deputy Mayor Nandasena Sellahewa.
